Black Sunflower deluxe seed mix from your local bird supply shop.
Its fresh, mixed for the population of birds in your neighborhood. They trade there beauty for your contribution. This "house" feeder I have had for many years. Easy to clean, keeps seed dry, room for larger birds. I use a seed catcher underneath to help with the scatter's and hang my suet separately. |

Thistle Feeders: in my NW backyard I prefer the mesh style. It supports flocks with a view of there pecking order dance. A hoot to watch. I have counted as many as 11 birds eating at one time. Tho' the single serve control's the greedy birds. Thistle seed tends to draw moisture so I keep a cover over my feeder in our wet weather.
Please be particular about your hummingbird feeders. Pretty is not functional. Extra parts means extra washing. I have been using this model for years. Keep two on hand to change out easily when it freezes.
The hummer feeder brushes are an excellent at cleaning the crevasse's.
No need to purchase the "red" feeding solution. Red food coloring isn't good for humans or birds.
Recipe: 1 part sugar 4 parts boiling water, cool

This seed catcher is worth its weight in gold.
Slows down the mess, keeps rodents at bay and makes another tray for the birds to enjoy. I have had mine for 4 years, easy to hose off, keeping it up all year. |
